Chapter 92
Evelyn took a slow sip of her juice through the straw, eyeing Natalia with a raised brow.
"Can't you just sing without accompaniment?"
Natalia flashed a dazzling smile. "I could, but wouldn't that be boring? Everyone wants to see me dance too!" She turned to the surrounding students. "Right, guys?"
A chorus of eager agreement rose from the male students nearby.
"Absolutely! We've never seen Natalia dance before!"
"Rumor has it she trained in ballet—she must be incredible!"
"After tonight, we might never get this chance again. A performance from her would be the perfect way to end our university years!"
Natalia basked in the attention before turning back to Evelyn with a sweetly challenging look. "See how excited they are? Why don’t we collaborate?"
Evelyn swirled her drink, unimpressed. "They're excited for your performance, not my guitar skills. Why does it have to be me?"
Natalia pouted, feigning hurt. "You're really refusing? After treating everyone so generously tonight, you won’t even help with this small favor?"
Evelyn nearly scoffed. Small favor?
"You're from the music department, Natalia. Half the people here could play for you. Why insist on me? We barely know each other."
Natalia faltered, but before she could respond, a group of her friends swooped in.
"Because you two are the most stunning girls on campus! A joint performance would be legendary!"
"Come on, Evelyn! Consider it a farewell gift to all of us!"
"Four years together deserve an unforgettable finale!"
Their enthusiasm spread like wildfire, and soon, every pair of eyes in the room was fixed on Evelyn.
She sighed. She had played guitar on stage once during sophomore year—denying she could play now would be pointless.
"Fine." She stood, taking the guitar case from Natalia. "Don’t expect brilliance. I’m no professional."
The crowd erupted in cheers.
"Of course not!"
"We’re just happy you’re doing it!"
Natalia smirked in triumph.
The party venue was massive, designed for large gatherings. The lower floor buzzed with karaoke, pool tables, and gaming consoles, while the upper level offered quieter spaces—a lounge, a study, and a beautifully lit terrace perfect for intimate conversations.
Evelyn adjusted the guitar strap, already regretting her decision.
