Chapter 259
Evelyn's words did little to calm the blind elderly man.
"Even if they're in a hurry, parking on tactile paving is unacceptable!" His voice trembled with anger. "People these days only care about themselves. They never stop to think how their actions affect others!"
He wasn’t wrong.
Evelyn sighed and reached out to guide the man past the SUV when a sharp voice cut through the air. "Hey! What the hell did you just do?!"
She turned to see a girl with vibrant purple hair storming toward them, gripping a selfie stick. The girl’s eyes locked onto the shattered window, and her face twisted in outrage. "What the actual f*ck? Did you two just wreck my car?!"
Evelyn recognized her—the same influencer she’d seen earlier by Yonder River, broadcasting confessions for views while cooing for gifts in a sickly-sweet voice.
The blind man stiffened at the girl’s vulgar language. Though he couldn’t see, his hearing was sharp. He turned toward the sound of her voice. "So you’re the one who parked here?"
The girl crossed her arms. "Damn right I did. This SUV cost me seventy-five thousand dors, and you just smashed it! Pay up!"
The old man didn’t flinch. "Good. You deserve it. Tactile paving isn’t for parking. Doesn’t matter how expensive your car is—if it’s blocking the way, it should be smashed!"
The girl scoffed. "It’s my car. I’ll park wherever I want. Who cares about some stupid paving? Is this your road? Who made you the boss?"
The man’s breath hitched, his face flushing with frustration. "Is this how your parents raised you? To disrespect others like this?"
Evelyn quickly steadied him, rubbing his back. Then she fixed the girl with a firm look. "You’re in the wrong here. Move your car. Now."
The influencer rolled her eyes. "Or what? You’ll call the cops? Oh wait—there aren’t any. Mind your own business!"
The old man had had enough. He pulled Evelyn behind him and raised his cane. "Move the car, or I’ll make you regret it."
The girl smirked. "Try me, old man. I’ve got three hundred thousand followers. You think I’m scared of you?"
Before Evelyn could react, the man swung.
The girl dodged easily and shoved him to the ground. "Pathetic."
Evelyn rushed to help him up, her blood boiling. The old man was unhurt but shaken, his breathing ragged.
That was it.
She stood, locking eyes with the girl. "Enough. Move. Your. Car."
