Chapter 352
Nathaniel raised his hand to silence him. "Don't. From now on, whenever she locks that door, no one is to open it with a spare key. The only exception is if her safety is at risk."
"Yes... Mister Nathaniel," Theodore replied, slightly stunned.
This was a complete reversal from Nathaniel's usual stance. Before, he'd demand the staff unlock Evelyn's door immediately whenever she dared to lock him out. No one was permitted to lock him out of his own bedroom—let alone his wife's. Theodore had never seen Nathaniel so... compliant.
Nathaniel stopped knocking and pulled out his phone to call Evelyn. The line rang several times before she finally answered.
"What?!" Her voice was thick with sleep and irritation.
"Wake up. Breakfast is ready," Nathaniel said.
Evelyn had been up all night finishing her sketches and had only fallen asleep at dawn. Right now, sleep was her only priority.
"Not hungry. Eat without me," she muttered before hanging up.
The dial tone buzzed in Nathaniel's ear, and his expression darkened. He was used to being the one in control, but it seemed fate had sent Evelyn to humble him.
He rubbed his temples wearily before redialing. "At least open the door so I can see you."
"Didn’t I send you a selfie yesterday? Stare at that all you want," she snapped.
Nathaniel smirked. "No. That just makes me crave the real thing even more. Don’t you know that?"
The word crave jolted Evelyn awake. "Mister—is that all you think about? It’s too early for this."
Amused by her misunderstanding, Nathaniel chuckled. "Fine, fine. Go back to sleep. I won’t disturb you."
"Hmph! Next time you're asleep, I’m calling to wake you up. Let’s see how you like it," she grumbled before hanging up.
Instead of annoyance, Nathaniel felt nothing but fondness. He pocketed his phone and turned to Theodore. "No one disturbs her. When she wakes up, ask what she wants for breakfast and have it prepared."
"Yes, Mister Nathaniel. She’ll be well taken care of," Theodore assured him, still in disbelief. Is this really Nathaniel? He looks... happy. Younger, even.
Theodore had served Nathaniel long enough to know his employer rarely smiled, let alone showed emotion. Yet here he was, grinning like a fool over a two-minute phone call. Unbelievable.
Looks like the staff and I will need to treat Madam Evelyn with even more respect now. Mister Nathaniel is clearly smitten.
With Evelyn refusing to get up, Nathaniel headed downstairs to eat alone.
Lucas entered the dining room and bowed slightly. "Mister Nathaniel, we’ve located the influencer you asked about."
