Chapter 235

Evelyn suddenly felt self-conscious and halted her stretch midway. The memory of Nathaniel's surprise kiss last night made her kick off the blankets in frustration.

"Not great," she muttered.

'He probably doesn't remember anything from last night since he was sleeping so deeply,' she thought with a scoff.

Nathaniel's eyes narrowed. "Really? When I woke up, you were smiling in your sleep. Must've been quite the dream."

Heat rushed to Evelyn's cheeks. It felt like he'd read her mind.

Truth be told, she had enjoyed pleasant dreams later that night.

Oddly enough, she'd fallen asleep quickly after pinning Nathaniel down to stop his blanket-kicking habit.

The dreams had been filled with gourmet desserts, playful puppies, and hilarious comedy sketches - a stark contrast to her earlier nightmare. Pure bliss.

"Has anyone ever told you it's creepy to watch people sleep?"

"No."

Evelyn stretched her lips into a thin line. "Consider this your first lesson. Personal space during sleep hours. No peeking."

Nathaniel calmly fastened his shirt buttons. "Didn't need to peek. Saw everything in sixty seconds flat. Including the drool reaching your ear."

Evelyn's mouth fell open. 'Damn him!'

She swallowed hard, instinctively wiping her cheek.

Nathaniel decided to ease up. "Time to rise. We've got the morning to enjoy before our afternoon departure."

"Right."

Evelyn scrambled off the bed, heading to the bathroom to fix her disheveled hair and scowl.

A faint smile touched Nathaniel's lips as he watched her stomp away. Waking up to her morning grumpiness every day didn't sound half bad.

After freshening up, they headed to the resort's dining area where Dominic's group was already eating.

Sophia spotted Evelyn immediately. "Over here!"

Evelyn hesitated, remembering their newlywed act. But Nathaniel simply ruffled her hair. "Go ahead."

She practically skipped to Sophia's table.

Nathaniel watched her settle in before taking his own seat with practiced elegance.

Sophia leaned in excitedly. "Eat fast! We're flying kites after breakfast."

Evelyn took a bite of her sandwich. "No more horseback riding?"

Sophia shot Gabrielle a pointed look. "After yesterday's incident, Dominic banned us girls from the stables. But they've got kites we can use until lunch."

Evelyn sipped her milk. "Haven't flown a kite in ages."

"Same!" Sophia grinned. "Last time was senior year. Unlike some people still stuck in high school."

Benjamin's face darkened. "Watch it, Sophia Bennett. I was leaving you alone today."
