Chapter 418

A strange look flickered across Evelyn's face. Her fingers instinctively brushed against the towel draped around her neck.

"It's chilly," she said quickly.

Benjamin frowned, unconvinced. "A towel won't do anything. Take my jacket instead."

He turned to Amelia. "You're warm now, right?"

Amelia blinked. "Yes... I'm fine."

His tone turned serious. "Then give it to Evelyn. She fell into the pond earlier—we can't risk her getting sick."

Only then did Amelia realize she was still wearing Benjamin's jacket. Her smile stiffened as she slowly shrugged it off.

"Of course," she murmured, handing it back.

Benjamin didn't hesitate. He thrust the jacket toward Evelyn. "Put it on."

Evelyn eyed the offered jacket, then arched a brow at his earnest expression. She waved a dismissive hand.

"No need."

He shoved it into her arms. "Stop being stubborn."

"I'm not—"

Before she could finish, Benjamin yanked the towel from her neck and draped the jacket over her shoulders.

The marks on her skin were suddenly exposed.

Amelia's eyes darkened. Hickies? Nathaniel must've gone wild with her.

Benjamin stared, his mind racing.

Evelyn's face burned. She pressed a hand to her forehead, scrambling for an excuse. "Uh—"

"Your allergies flared up again?" Benjamin cut in, deadly serious. "Why didn't you say anything? I'm calling an ambulance."

Evelyn nearly choked. "No! It's not that bad."

"You're being reckless."

"I'm fine," she hissed.

Internally, she groaned. This idiot is worse when he's being nice.

Amelia's sweet facade cracked as she watched Benjamin fuss over Evelyn. Her fingers curled into fists.
