Chapter 482
Evelyn never purchased clothes that restricted her movement. Her closet was devoid of formal gowns or anything similarly impractical.
While she had founded Newmoon Group single-handedly, Seraphina and Sebastian typically handled the social engagements. As the shadow CEO, Evelyn focused solely on technical operations, major decisions, and company development.
Seraphina knew her boss despised restrictive clothing. Closing her laptop, she arched an eyebrow. "What's with the sudden interest in formal wear?"
Evelyn stretched lazily. "Nathaniel wants me at some fancy event tomorrow. Black-tie required."
Seraphina smirked. "We'll hit the designer boutiques after dinner. My dresses would swallow you whole - especially up top." She gestured to her chest.
Evelyn reached over and gave an experimental squeeze. "True. You're definitely a cup size bigger."
Without missing a beat, Seraphina returned the favor. "Don't worry, boss. Pregnancy hormones will fix that soon enough."
Evelyn shook her head vehemently. "No thanks! I'm perfectly content with my B-cups. Bigger looks great on others but feels like carrying sandbags."
"Fair point," Seraphina conceded. "Your proportions are already ideal - the perfect balance."
From the front seat, Sebastian groaned. "Hello? Remember there's a man present? This is getting awkward."
The women exchanged glances. They'd long stopped viewing Sebastian as anything but one of the girls. Their friendship transcended typical boundaries.
Ignoring him completely, Seraphina changed topics. "Dinner plans?"
Evelyn's eyes lit up. "That barbecue place we love. Haven't had it since leaving the capital."
Seraphina frowned. "You're eating for two now. Shouldn't we choose something healthier?"
Sebastian immediately took Evelyn's side. "One meal won't hurt! She's been nauseous for weeks - let her enjoy a craving for once."
After brief consideration, Seraphina relented. Sebastian started the engine, and soon the familiar shack came into view.
The moment the savory aroma hit, Evelyn practically vibrated with excitement. Just as she reached for the door handle, Seraphina grabbed her wrist. "Wait."
Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Not this again. Live a little!"
Seraphina adjusted her glasses, her expression turning serious. "Not about the food. Look over there - isn't that Nathaniel Grayson?"
Evelyn's playful demeanor vanished. Following Seraphina's gaze, she spotted Nathaniel sitting alone at a corner table.
A single beer, plate of skewers, and bowl of chips sat untouched before him. Despite the casual setting, Nathaniel maintained his usual regal posture, face impassive.
The shop owner approached with a soda, laughing as he made some comment. Nathaniel offered only the slightest nod in response, his expression never wavering.
