Chapter 353
Nathaniel's men had taught her a harsh lesson after discovering what she did to his grandfather by the banks of Silver Peaks River.
Her streaming account had been permanently banned by the platform, cutting off her only source of income. With no other options, she fled back to her hometown.
Nathaniel remained silent, methodically finishing his breakfast.
Lucas continued his report. "The influencer admitted she was terrified her family would face repercussions since she crossed someone powerful. That’s why she’s been hiding in the countryside."
"She also claims she wasn’t the one who posted the video slandering Evelyn. Someone must have hacked her VeeTube account. She was warned never to speak about meeting Grandfather Rivers or the consequences she faced from the Grayson family."
"Samuel’s men confiscated her phone immediately. Even if she had the original footage, she wouldn’t dare use it—not after what happened."
"Sir, I don’t think she’s the one behind the video. It has to be someone else."
Nathaniel’s expression didn’t shift. He already knew the truth. Last night, he traced the video’s origin to the Rivers' estate, not the influencer. He picked up his glass of milk and took a slow sip.
Lucas hesitated before speaking again. "I had her record a statement denying involvement and explaining the truth of that day. We can release it to the media to clear Evelyn’s name."
"But it’d be more convincing if we had the original footage. People will doubt her confession, wondering if she was forced. They’ll demand proof."
"And the Rivers family…" Lucas scowled. "They’re ungrateful. Evelyn got dragged into this mess trying to help their grandfather, and now they won’t lift a finger to help her."
Nathaniel’s eyes darkened at the mention of the Rivers.
Lucas quickly added, "But Amelia once saved your life. That complicates things."
"Amelia is Amelia. The Rivers are the Rivers." Nathaniel’s voice was ice.
Lucas stiffened. The message was clear—Nathaniel wouldn’t hold back.
"What’s our next move, sir?"
Before Nathaniel could answer, Theodore hurried in. "Sir, the Rivers are here."
Lucas blinked. "The Rivers? Here?"
The two families had been enemies for decades. Even if the younger generation didn’t openly feud, unannounced visits were unheard of.
Nathaniel arched a brow. "Why?"
Theodore cleared his throat. "They say Benjamin Rivers came to apologize—to you and Evelyn. Amelia is waiting in the car."
Nathaniel’s jaw tightened. "Let them in."
Theodore nodded and left. Moments later, Samuel’s right-hand man, Oliver, entered with Benjamin in tow.
Amelia was nowhere in sight.
