Chapter 374

Amelia nodded. "She is, and she's now married to the Graysons, one of the most powerful families in the city."

Cassandra's face twisted in disbelief. "What did you just say? That's impossible!"

Amelia maintained her gentle smile. "It's pouring outside, Miss Blackwood. Would you mind if I came in to explain everything properly?"

After a brief hesitation, Cassandra stepped aside. "Fine. Get in here and tell me exactly how Evelyn managed to marry Nathaniel! I need to know every detail about this sham of a marriage!"

Though she didn't recognize this stranger, the woman's words struck a chord with recent events.

Evelyn had vanished on what should have been Cassandra's wedding day to Nathaniel, only to reappear the next morning wearing an expensive men's designer jacket. She'd immediately demanded to move out of the family home. Cassandra had secretly followed her sister to an exclusive downtown penthouse, where Evelyn claimed to be working as a maid for her thesis research.

Looking back, everything seemed suspicious.

Then there was that strange incident when director Vincent Blackwood arranged for Cassandra to visit Nathaniel at Silver Moon Estate. Nathaniel had kept staring at Evelyn - who was posing as Cassandra's assistant - with the most peculiar expression.

The pieces were falling into place in the worst possible way. 'That conniving little bitch stole my wedding day! She took Nathaniel right from under my nose! How dare she!'

Fifteen minutes later, Amelia had finished her carefully embellished account of Evelyn's marriage to Nathaniel for Gregory, Victoria, and Cassandra.

Cassandra shot up from the couch, trembling with rage. "Father! Mother! You heard that! Evelyn stole my husband! I knew something was wrong with that wedding! Why would the Graysons deliver the dowry but never ask for its return? It was all a mistake!"

She paced furiously. "This is all Evelyn's doing! She tricked Nathaniel into not collecting his real bride - me! That scheming whore seduced my fiancé and took my place in the Grayson family! That should have been my life! She's despicable!"

Victoria's face darkened with matching fury. The wedding day humiliation when Gregory had struck her before their relatives still burned in her memory. 'So Evelyn was behind everything!'

Gregory sat frozen, the truth hitting him like a physical blow. His least favorite daughter had somehow married into one of the most powerful families in the city - a position meant for his precious Cassandra.

The atmosphere in the Blackwood living room crackled with barely contained rage and bitter realization.
