Chapter 265

Evelyn wasn't quite herself today.

Sebastian immediately recognized his blunder. He'd clearly struck a nerve with his careless remark. Rushing to her side, he offered a hasty apology.

"Boss, my bad. Won't happen again."

Truthfully, Evelyn wasn't truly angry with him. Just frustrated. She exhaled sharply, rolling her eyes. "Enough with the puppy eyes. Any updates on Vivian's paintings in the market?"

Sebastian straightened up, all business now. "Negative. The current market's flooded with international artists. Haven't spotted any local works recently."

Evelyn's gaze turned sharp, her expression darkening. "Keep monitoring it closely."

"On it, boss!"

Ever since discovering Gregory wasn't her biological father, Evelyn had become obsessed with uncovering her mother's past.

She needed answers.

Who was her real father? Why had he abandoned them?

Why had her mother left her at that hospital? Why entrust her to a complete stranger?

What secrets lay buried in the past?

The questions burned inside her, demanding resolution.

Seraphina noticed Evelyn's stormy expression. She jerked her chin toward Sebastian. "Hey, go grab some late-night snacks. Boss needs food."

Sebastian scowled. "Seriously? I just showered! Why don't you go?"

Seraphina ignored his protest. "Get those chocolate donuts she likes too."

"Slave driver," Sebastian muttered, though he was already heading to change. Within minutes, he grabbed his keys and left.

Once alone, Seraphina turned to Evelyn. "Heard about today's spectacle."

Evelyn blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. "What spectacle?"

"The whole Silver Moon Estate covered in pink tulips? The light show on Century Bank Tower? The drone display?" Seraphina gestured toward their balcony. "Saw it while doing laundry."

Evelyn glanced out their floor-to-ceiling windows. The massive LED display was still visible across the river.

Their penthouse offered the most breathtaking view of the Yonder River skyline.

Seraphina pressed further. "Nathaniel's doing, I presume? For Amelia?"

Evelyn gave a tight nod. "Every last bit of it."

"What's their history?" Seraphina probed.

"Childhood sweethearts. Forced apart. Details are fuzzy," Evelyn replied tersely.

Seraphina's eyes gleamed knowingly. "You're in a foul mood tonight." She tilted her head. "Could it be... jealousy?"

Evelyn choked violently on her milk, coughing until tears sprang to her eyes.
