Chapter 145
The phone call connected with a soft click.
"Hello, Miss Cassandra."
A refined, melodic voice floated through the line—smooth, poised, dripping with quiet confidence. Every syllable carried the weight of someone accustomed to power.
Cassandra's fingers tightened around the phone. A nervous flutter rose in her chest. She forced her voice into something sweet, answering the questions about the film with practiced politeness.
After a moment, she nodded, a bright smile breaking across her face. "Of course, Miss Seraphina. I look forward to hearing from you."
The call ended.
Gregory and Victoria leaned in simultaneously. "Well? What did she say?"
Cassandra blinked, barely containing her excitement. "Daddy, Mommy—Miss Montgomery said she needs time to consider the investment. But!" She paused for dramatic effect. "Her company is launching a new product line, and she asked if I'd be interested in being their ambassador!"
Gregory's face lit up. "That's excellent news!"
Victoria beamed. "Newmoon Group's reputation is impeccable. If you secure this deal, your career will skyrocket."
Cassandra preened, pride swelling in her chest. "Miss Montgomery requested our address. She's sending a car to pick me up so we can discuss the details at her office."
Victoria clapped her hands. "Perfect! Go get ready—you don’t want to keep her waiting."
Cassandra turned to leave, but Evelyn blocked her path, holding out her phone. "Cassandra. My phone."
With a dramatic sigh, Cassandra snatched it back. "Fine. Send her the address now."
Evelyn arched a brow. "Does this mean I’ve made up for my mistake?"
Cassandra scoffed. "Hardly. She hasn’t agreed to invest yet. This is just an ambassador offer. You’re not forgiven until the deal is sealed."
She pushed past Evelyn and hurried upstairs to change.
Evelyn exhaled, turning to Gregory. "Daddy, should I start packing for the countryside?"
Gregory, still riding the high of the good news, waved a dismissive hand. "Stay. Consider this your reward for not completely ruining things."
A sly smile curled Evelyn’s lips. "How generous of you."
Gregory’s expression turned stern. "Go with your sister to Newmoon Group. Your presence might help secure better terms. And this time—don’t mess it up."
Evelyn dipped her head obediently. "I won’t."
Victoria stood beside Gregory, her smile tight. Beneath the pleasant facade, her thoughts burned. Damn it. We almost got rid of her. But at least she’s useful for now.
Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Cassandra, now flawlessly made up and dressed in an elegant designer outfit, perched on the sofa. She flicked a hand toward Evelyn. "Answer it."
Evelyn obeyed, pulling open the door—
Sebastian Monroe stood on the threshold, impeccably dressed in a tailored suit.
