Chapter 193
A little give-and-take never hurt anyone, and Evelyn was more than pleased to receive the paintings she had been eyeing.
"Tell your boss I said thanks!"
She pressed the doorbell and waited for the butler to send someone out to help carry the three canvases inside.
Lucas's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced down, then back at Evelyn. "Ma'am, Mr. Grayson would like to know if you have any dinner preferences for tonight."
Evelyn blinked. "He's coming home for dinner?"
Lucas nodded. "It appears so."
Her frown deepened. Why now, when Margaret wasn’t hovering over them anymore?
"Anything’s fine. I’m not picky."
"Understood." Lucas waited until Evelyn was safely inside before driving off, following Nathaniel’s instructions.
Meanwhile, at Grayson Group, Nathaniel leaned back in his chair, massaging his temples after a grueling meeting.
His secretary knocked lightly. "Sir, Mr. Benjamin Rivers has been waiting in the reception area for nearly an hour."
Nathaniel barely looked up. "Send him in."
Moments later, Benjamin strode into the office, his expression tense as he studied Nathaniel. "Are you okay? What happened last night?"
Nathaniel flipped through a file, raising a brow. "Did you expect something to happen to me?"
Benjamin scowled. "How should I know? Evelyn called me from your phone, saying you needed my sister’s help. I told her Amelia’s abroad, and she hung up before I could ask anything else. What did you need Amelia for?"
The memory of Evelyn’s relentless attempts to find him a woman last night soured Nathaniel’s expression. "How does she even know about Amelia?"
Benjamin rolled his eyes. "I told her. I made it clear she shouldn’t get any ideas about you—you’re meant for my sister."
Nathaniel’s gaze turned icy. "Don’t spout nonsense in front of her again."
Benjamin crossed his arms. "It’s not nonsense! Amelia’s been waiting for you all this time. You and her—"
"Hey, Ben! Didn’t expect to see you here! On summer break already? Perfect timing—we’re heading out for some fun!" Dominic strolled in, cutting Benjamin off mid-sentence.
The mention of fun instantly brightened Benjamin’s mood, his earlier frustration forgotten. "Where are we going?"
Dominic grinned. "Silver Peaks Ranch. It’s been ages since I visited. My little Stardust must be missing me. The weather’s perfect for a two-day trip."
Benjamin’s eyes lit up. "Horseback riding? I’m in!"
Dominic turned to Nathaniel. "You coming?"
Nathaniel didn’t look up from his documents. "No time."
Dominic scoffed. "It’s the weekend. The office can survive without you for two days. Bring Evelyn too. Since you skipped the honeymoon, this is your chance to actually spend time with her."
