Chapter 118
"Where did this freak come from? Jesus Christ! She's so hideous it's giving me a migraine!"
"Get lost, you disgusting creature! Mind your own business!"
"Beat it before we make you!"
Evelyn Whitmore kept recording with her phone as she approached the group. "I've got everything on video. You've all committed assault. When I hand this to the police and press charges, even as minors, you'll get a record."
"You're all from wealthy families. Need I explain how a criminal record will ruin your college applications, job prospects, and entire futures?"
Zachary Montgomery and his gang exchanged nervous glances. Evelyn had struck a nerve. They hesitated, shifting uncomfortably.
"You stupid bitch! This isn't your fight!" Zachary snarled. "Get that phone!"
He refused to be intimidated by some random woman, especially one who looked so fragile. His friends released Benjamin Rivers and lunged for Evelyn.
Evelyn didn't flinch. Still recording, she dodged their clumsy attempts with surprising agility. She ducked under arms, sidestepped tackles, and even dropped into a squat to avoid being grabbed from behind.
Minutes passed. The boys panted, exhausted, while Evelyn remained untouched, not a single hair out of place.
Benjamin, now sitting up, stared in disbelief. 'Where did she learn to move like that?'
Satisfied with her footage, Evelyn pocketed her phone. Then she smiled—a chilling expression—before launching into a spinning kick that sent all three boys crashing to the pavement.
Benjamin's jaw dropped. That petite frame packed unbelievable power.
"Done!" Evelyn dusted her hands and offered Benjamin help up. "Need an ambulance?"
Face burning, Benjamin looked away. "N-no. I'm fine."
Zachary clutched his stomach as he stood. "What kind of man are you, Benjamin Rivers? Hiding behind some girl?"
Benjamin moved to respond, but Evelyn cut in. "He didn't ask for help. I just couldn't stand watching you cowards gang up on one person."
Zachary's face twisted with humiliation. They couldn't even lay a finger on her. Defeated, he turned back to Benjamin.
"Listen up, Rivers. I'm done playing games. Either hand over Silver Moon Estate like you promised, or I'm taking this to your father and brother!"
Benjamin massaged his temples. "I—"
Evelyn tilted her head. "What was the bet?"
"They cheated at Valor's Edge!" Benjamin spat. "I should've won fair and square!"
Evelyn's eyes gleamed. She faced Zachary. "How about a rematch? If you win, he honors the original bet. If you lose, the debt's erased."
