Chapter 0084

Athena

Their voices cut through the heavy fog in my mind.

Isabella and Alpha Alexander were arguing.

They were fighting about the Witch who bound me.

Isabella defended Madame Zora.

She wasn't defending the past actions.

She was defending what the Witch did now.

“She knew exactly who I was, Alexander!” Isabella snapped. “She knows you're my brother. She didn't need a degree to figure out why I asked for the antidote.”

“Guys, guys.” Caleb tried to intervene.

“I still can't believe you went to her.” Alpha Alexander's voice was sharp.

“If I hadn't, Athena would be dead!” Isabella shot back.

Death.

Maybe that was my purpose.

Maybe I was created for death.

“Will you both shut up!" Caleb snapped. “Take this outside. She doesn't need to hear your arguing.”

‘I'm sorry, Alexander. I did what was best for this pack. I did it to protect us. Why can't you understand?’ Isabella's voice softened. “I did this for Obsidian Howl.”

“How much did it cost?”

“It was nothing.”

“She always has a price. Tell me how much.”

“I'll pay you back.”

“Isabella!”

I didn't hear her response.

I was glad I didn't.

The collective gasps told me it was more than anyone should pay.

“I have the antidote now. She gave me a list of ingredients and instructions to make it myself.”

Silence fell.

I felt myself slipping back into the fog.

It wrapped around me like a blanket.

“She moved!” Caleb's voice pulled me from the darkness.

“She's been twitching since yesterday.” Alpha Alexander muttered.

“No, she actually moved. Her hand opened and closed.”

Alpha Alexander grabbed my hand.

Little spikes of electricity shot up my arm.

My heart jolted.

“Did you see that?” Isabella asked. “There was a spike in her heart rate.”

“Athena? Athena?" Alpha Alexander called my name.

Had he felt it too?

I tried to speak.

No sound came out.

“Take your time. I'm right here.” Alpha Alexander murmured.

He squeezed my hand.

Sparks flew again.

My eyes crept open.

The bright hospital lights forced them shut.

“Turn the lights off.” Alpha Alexander ordered.

My eyes opened again.

The room was dimly lit now.

I didn't recoil.

“Hey,” Alpha Alexander cradled my head. “How are you feeling?”

A raspy sound escaped my throat as I looked at him.

“It's okay, take your time.” Isabella said softly.

“You scared the crap out of all of us.” Caleb mumbled.

I didn't turn to look at him.

I kept my focus on Alpha Alexander.

His strange crimson eyes were a relief to see.

For a moment, I thought it had all been a dream.

Who?

I wanted to ask.

Who did this?

My last memory was Alpha Alexander sending Sebastian and Caleb into the city.

“Genevieve.” Alpha Alexander muttered, reading my thoughts. “She injected you with Wolfsbane Toxin. Isabella had an antidote.”

I knew that bitch would try to kill me.

Alpha Dane smiled.

I forgot how easily he could read my mind.

“She's dead. You don't need to worry about her anymore.” He confirmed.

“Good thing too. Otherwise I would've killed her myself.” Caleb muttered.

Now there was just Dominic and Victoria to deal with.

Alpha Alexander stayed silent.

I knew he was listening to my thoughts.

What wasn't he telling me?

“Can we have a minute alone?” Alpha Alexander asked the others.

They left, though clearly unhappy about it.

He shut the door behind them.

He rolled down the blind.

This was serious.

“Sebastian and Caleb went into the city.” He told me. “Just as we predicted, Dominic is creating more Lycans. He might be doing it to attack us, but it will also piss off other Wolf packs.”

My voice sounded like scraping metal when I asked why.

He frowned. “Talk to me through your thoughts.”

I nodded.

He continued explaining how packs would feel threatened by Dominic's ability to turn humans.

‘It's like Vampires turning many humans at once. They do it to invade an area and then kill the ones they turned.’

‘Vampires?’

“Sorry,” he mumbled, “There are many other species in the world. Though you'll never see them here.”

‘I don't know what a Vampire is.’
