Chapter 0431

Theodore

“That’s all he said?” Levi questioned.

“Yes. He expects us there by six tomorrow morning. Or your sister dies. He’s waiting for confirmation.”

He paced back and forth, restless. “Impressive, Theodore. You woke me just to say that. Could’ve stayed quiet. Let him kill Evelyn.”

“He ordered me to tell you. He is my Alpha. I obeyed.”

“Right. But he wouldn’t have known if you kept it secret. As your mate, I think you’re trying to make me happy. Telling the truth. You know I want Evelyn back.” He winked. “But what does your Alpha really want? You, I assume. You’re valuable to him.” He ran a hand through his short blonde hair. “Never had to choose before. My sister or my mate? Difficult.”

“I am not your mate. I gave you my birth name.”

“Theodore, you lie. Not good.” He checked the chains on my wrists. “Tell your Alpha I’ll be there.”

“He won’t hand over Evelyn if I’m not with you.”

“Yes, he will.” Confidence radiated from him. His eyes glowed. “If he knows what’s good for him.”

“You don’t know Alexander like I do. He’ll see I’m not there and tear her apart. I’ve seen it happen.”

“Then he’ll face my wrath. You might not believe it, but I love my sister. Even though she’s difficult. I’ll do anything to keep her alive.”

“You’ve done nothing while she rots in a dungeon.” I muttered, frustrated. He’d given me nothing but coded answers.

He squatted before me, leaning close. His breath was stale. He needed to brush his teeth. “But she’s safe there. Everyone is safe while she’s locked up. It would be a bloodbath if she got out.” He stood. “Tell your Alpha we’ll be there. I’ll decide when everything is revealed.”

I linked Alexander and confirmed.

“You keep saying she’s safe in the dungeon. What does that mean? Why no hurry to get her out? Why a bloodbath? You think she can kill everyone?”

“No need to hurry when I know where she is.” He didn’t elaborate. Odd. I didn’t buy it. I needed to know why Evelyn was safer inside. And why everyone else was, too.

“She’s a Lycan. You confirmed it. She confirmed it.”

“Yes.”

“Is she a weapon?”

He smiled. “Don’t worry, Theodore. I’ll keep you safe. She won’t hurt you. She won’t be allowed to.”

Allowed? He thought he was powerful enough to stop her.

“Are you afraid of her? Is that why you blocked her abilities? You said it was because she touched your things. I don’t believe that. You’re hiding something.”

“So curious. All will be revealed in time. Get some sleep. Early start tomorrow.”

“I can’t sleep with your riddles. Is my pack in danger?”

“Haven’t decided.”

“You decide? You said Evelyn could cause a bloodbath.”

He smiled. His wide sage green eyes looked unhinged. Why would the Moon Goddess think he was my match?

“Who are you after?” I pushed. No answer. “I could tell Alexander to kill her!”

He grabbed my face roughly, lifting me off the floor. Strength surprised me. “You will do no such thing. Understand!”

He dropped me with a thud and strode out. He returned with a syringe. “Better yet, let’s make sure you can’t!”

Levi stabbed the needle into my neck before I could react. Instantly, weakness washed over me. My senses faded. I tried to link Alexander. Nothing.

“Another reason I’m glad I’m not your mate!” I spat.

A sharp, painful slap hit my face. It burned. A red handprint marked my skin. One that wouldn’t heal for days.
