Chapter 0038

“Did you tell her?” Sebastian’s voice was low as his sons chased each other across the field.

“No.”

“I take it she’s still not speaking to you?”

“No.”

He nodded slowly. “Remind me again—why keep it from her? That bastard is gone. She’s free. She’s yours to claim.”

“It’s not that simple,” I muttered.

“I get it, but…” He paused. “You wouldn’t have been able to hide it if she wasn’t bound. Is this because of the Lycan rumors? Wolves have done worse and still ended up with humans.”

“Speaking of which,” I said, steering the topic away from Athena. “Has Caleb said anything else?”

Sebastian shook his head. “I told you—he won’t talk to me. No idea why.”

“I’ve searched every database. There’s nothing. How can something like this exist without a trace?”

“Maybe it’s because Silver Creek hid so well. And those rules Athena mentioned.”

“I need to speak with him,” I said firmly.

We headed down to the dungeon. Sebastian banged on the bars, jolting the man who called himself Caleb awake.

“You said they removed you.”

“Good morning to you too,” he yawned, running a hand through his dark hair. The resemblance to Athena was undeniable.

“Yes, I was put up for adoption.”

“Then how did you locate the pack? You were three. No way you remembered.”

“It’s a Lycan thing.”

“You’re saying you can track them?” Sebastian cut in. “Even after being exiled.”

“Yes.”

“How?”

“We’re… connected. Like how you all link minds. Right?”

“How did you find them?”

He shrugged. “Can’t explain it. If there were other Lycan packs out there, they’d find Silver Creek too.”

“Are there others?”

“No. Why do you think Dominic is so desperate to keep them hidden? Our kind is dying. Those you saw are the last. My sister is the last Alpha.” His blue eyes locked onto mine. “You still haven’t told her.”

“Not your concern.”

“She’s my sister,” he argued.

“You don’t even know her.”

“Do you?” he shot back sarcastically. “You’re in love with her but won’t admit it.”

“Enough!” I growled.

He’s not wrong, Titan murmured. I noticed Sebastian raising a brow.

Caleb held up his hands. “Just saying—how do you think she’ll react when she finds out you’ve been hiding this? A secret kept from her entire life?”

“You’re lucky to be breathing.”

“I know. But so is Athena. Haven’t you wondered why Dominic kept her alive?”

“Why?”

“That… I don’t know. I’ve been trying to figure it out for years. Binding her powers makes no sense. If he raised her differently, she’d be just like them.”

“You said he didn’t believe in a female Alpha.”

“I did. But then why let her live? You have to admit, Alpha Alexander, something isn’t adding up.”

“You could be making all this up to save your own skin.”

“Maybe. But even you can see there’s truth in what I’m saying.”

Do you believe him? I asked Titan.

Not sure, he replied. He has no reason to lie. But also every reason.

If I kill him and Athena finds out… she’ll never forgive me. If he’s lying and plotting with Dominic… ignoring it would be foolish.

There was only one path forward.

I had to tell Athena the truth.

But would she be able to handle it?
