Chapter 0078
Alexander
Genevieve storms away, her anger and frustration palpable.
She never gets what she wants.
After all this time, I thought she would have learned.
But she remains stubborn, always searching for a way back in.
I hide my amusement at Athena’s dark thoughts.
Once again, her inner darkness surfaces.
Only I can hear it.
“She’s something else,” Caleb mutters.
I agree,’ Titan growls.
“Why not just tell her you’re gay?” I ask, ignoring Titan’s rambling.
“Where’s the fun in that?” Caleb smirks, watching Genevieve stomp across the snow.
“Besides, she’s too dense to understand anything I say.
So what’s the story with her?”
“It’s a long story.
And none of your business,” I tell him.
His eyes flicker toward Athena, but he stays silent.
He knows better than to question my decisions as Alpha.
Inside the house, I have one of the Omegas show Caleb to his room.
I insist he gets one far from mine.
Athena, Sebastian, and I head to the office.
We need a plan.
Dominic and Victoria must be hunted down and eliminated.
I won’t let them find my mate or force someone to impregnate her.
Athena sighs and rubs her eyes.
She sits quietly, regretting her dark thoughts.
Questioning how cruel she can be.
To me, she isn’t cruel.
She wants revenge—a revenge she deserves.
But I wonder if she can actually go through with killing them.
“Take some warriors into the city.
See what you can find,” I tell Sebastian.
I want time alone with Athena.
“Should I take Caleb?
He might sense them.
It could make things easier.”
“Don’t let him out of your sight.”
“No chance.”
As he stands to leave, I order him to kill them on sight.
I notice Athena’s lips curve into a faint smile.
It vanishes when she catches me looking.
She lowers her face, embarrassed.
“We’ve wasted enough time,” I tell her.
“I’m done with their games.
They deserve a swift death.”
“I always thought they wanted me dead, but I never understood why they didn’t just kill me.”
She pulls her knees to her chest.
“I begged for death.
There were nights I prayed to the Moon Goddess not to let me wake up.
I even thought about throwing myself down the stairs.”
“But you kept fighting.”
She lets out a heavy sigh.
“I didn’t want to.”
“If you hadn’t, our paths would never have crossed.
You wouldn’t be here with me, claimed.
Instead, you’d likely be knocked up, raped by one of the men in Silver Creek.”
I’m not trying to scare her.
I want her to see that everything led her to me.
“If they find me…”
I cut her off, locking eyes with her.
“I will burn everything to the ground to find you.
But they’d have to kill me first.
Otherwise, it would kill you anyway.”
Damn right.
Let the whole world burn for all I care!’ Titan declares.
Finally, we agree on something.
She sits quietly, hugging her legs.
“It would be easier if you just spoke to me.
As much as I enjoy reading your mind, you make it difficult when your thoughts jump around.
I’ve told you before.
You don’t have to stay quiet here.
If you have something to say, say it.”
She shakes her head.
“Athena?”
She scowls.
“W…why would they agree to bind me so many times?”
