Chapter 0048
Alexander
“That was quick. Your sister lied about you hunting. How disappointing.” Genevieve’s grey eyes scanned me. She ran fingers through her long blonde hair, pulling it back to expose her neck. The unmarked skin was a deliberate display. A reminder of her purpose.
Why is she here? The stupid bitch! Titan snarled.
You know exactly why. Same as always. I sighed.
“Changed your mind, Alexander?” She beamed. “I’m here whenever you need me. Ready for your claim.”
“Took you long enough. Athena’s been here almost a month.”
She frowned. “That’s no way to greet your lover.”
“You stopped being that years ago. Why are you back? My answer never changes. You should know that by now.”
“Don’t be like that. We were amazing together. We still can be. I’m just reminding you. This new one won’t last. I haven’t even heard of her.”
I rolled my eyes. Titan snorted.
“You say that about every woman after you.”
“And I’ve always been right, Alexander.” Her smile turned smug.
“Sorry to break it to you, Genevieve. You’re wrong this time.”
Her eyes narrowed into slits. “I killed my mate for you.”
“You mean for yourself.”
She frowned and slid off the nurses station. “It was for us. You know that.” She stepped closer. “Still denying how much you enjoyed it? I remember your smile when he dropped to his knees. Begging you for help.”
“Desperation doesn’t suit you, Genevieve.”
“Desperation?” She scoffed, eyes wide. “I’m not desperate.”
“You do this every time I take a bride. Hoping I’ll cast them aside. That’s pathetic. You should move on.”
“You can’t speak to me like that.”
“I’m the Alpha here. You’re the outsider. The one who betrayed her family. Leave.”
Her grey eyes narrowed again. “This is my home. I’m back for good.” She grabbed my hands. “Come on, Alexander. We were great together.”
“That was a long time ago. I’ve moved on.” I pulled my hands free. “Get a grip. I already banished my brother. Want to join him?”
“Seriously?” She gasped. “You kicked Julian out?”
“I did. So I’ll ask again. Want to join him?”
“No. I’m grateful you let me come and go. I don’t want to be packless. That’s torture.”
“Then behave. If you try anything with Athena, I won’t banish you. I’ll rip your throat out.”
“What? You wouldn’t.”
“Want to test me?” My tone stayed hollow. Empty. No more games.
“What’s so special about her?” she demanded.
This should be good. Titan chuckled.
“I marked her.”
“You what? You actually marked someone? Claimed her as yours?”
“Yes.”
“You’ve never done that. You rejected all of us. You only almost marked me.”
“No, Genevieve. I was never going to mark you. You were just the only one I let live.”
Her mouth fell open. She folded her arms under her large breasts, pushing her cleavage forward. “You made a mistake, Alexander.”
