Chapter 0487
He gives a firm shake of his head. “There’s more.”
“Don’t you dare say bed rest.”
“Theodore insists you take it easy. At least until you’re consistently stable.”
I feel Nyx’s irritation flare. She despises confinement as much as I do. “Does he remember we have two toddlers? One of whom shifts regularly and escapes his crib.”
“I believe he means no shifting. It drains too much energy.”
“Fine. I can manage that. Did you speak with Zachary about the other matter?”
“No. I had just reached his office when Sebastian mind-linked me. He said you collapsed.”
“I believe I heard my name.” Zachary raps his knuckles on the doorframe. His dark gaze locks onto me. “You alright?”
“I’m perfectly fine. It’s everyone else being dramatic.” He lifts a brow, smirking, but stays silent.
“Close the door, would you?” Alexander tells him. “We need to discuss something.”
Zachary slowly pushes the door shut. “Is this about Jasmine? Because that girl is completely unhinged.”
“Did you reject her?” I ask.
“No. She launched into an attack out of nowhere. Then Lottie was dropped off. I didn’t get the chance.”
“Where is Charlotte now?”
“Evelyn is watching her.”
“You left her with Evelyn?” Alexander sounds surprised.
“Lottie likes her. Evelyn isn’t so bad once you know her. She’s trying to figure things out. Before Seraphina, it seems she was mostly alone. Well, partly with Levi, but we know he kept secrets.”
“Lucas will lose his mind.” Alexander smirks.
“I don’t particularly care what he thinks,” Zachary mutters. “So, did you need to talk about Jasmine?”
“You heard her mention Alpha Julian?” Alexander asks.
“Yes.” He rolls his eyes. “She threw a fit. Ranted about your eyes, Theodore, and some trap. Honestly, she was just screaming about everything. But one thing she said was right—she never should have come here.” He shakes his head, looking disgusted. I doubt she can change his opinion.
“So who is Alpha Julian?” he asks.
“If it’s the same Julian… he’s my twin.”
Zachary’s eyes dart to me, then back to Alexander. “The stillborn twin?”
“Yes.”
He takes the empty chair by the door. Alexander explains everything, just as he told me.
“Are we certain it’s the same man?”
“Your mate panicked when she saw Alexander’s eyes. She kept calling it a trap. Said Theodore brought her here. She claimed she never would have come if she knew his eyes were red,” I tell him.
“Please, don’t call her that. I had a mate. Jasmine is not her.” He shakes his head firmly.
“Is she running from him?” Alexander asks.
“Not entirely sure. Evelyn told me she found Jasmine tied up. Jasmine said this Alpha Julian took over her pack. Killed the Alpha, renamed it, moved his own wolves in. Maybe he had issues with Alpha Ryan? Who knows. What I do know is she’s…” He holds his hands up as if wanting to strangle her.
“Irritating?” I suggest.
“Beyond irritating. I’ve never met anyone more annoying. And that includes Lucas. That says a lot.”
I stifle a laugh. Jasmine had gotten under his skin. It takes a lot to irritate Zachary. “Back to this Julian. Do you want to do anything?” Zachary asks Alexander. “Does he know who you are?”
“I don’t know.”
“Can you sense him?” I know my boys sense each other. I knew Isabella and Julian could. He shakes his head at me. “I don’t know if it’s because we were separated at birth. He could be a threat. Or Jasmine could be exaggerating everything. He might not know me. He might want nothing to do with me. Or he might be forced to come here because we have Jasmine.”
“Where is she?” I ask. “I’ll talk to her.”
“She stormed off after I told her I found zero positives in being mated to her,” Zachary mutters.
“She wouldn’t have gotten far. Everyone is watching her.”
