Chapter 0131
“You’re not going to like what I have to say.” He muttered, avoiding my gaze.
“Athena ran?”
“Sebastian and a few others are searching for her. They’re trying to find her before Ethan does.”
I sat up coughing, the sound of sirens growing louder.
“We need to leave.” I said as he helped me stand.
“You want to go home? What about Sophia?”
I shook my head. “We just need to go. I can’t deal with humans right now. I need somewhere to think.”
We moved quickly. When I glanced down, the wound had vanished completely, as if it never existed. Relief washed over me. Death had never frightened me before. But now it wasn’t just about me. I had a mate. And twins on the way.
We found an abandoned house and collapsed on the dusty floor.
“I hate humans.” I muttered.
“That guy who hit us?” Julian asked quietly.
“Who else?”
“It wasn’t a human.” Julian murmured. “You were knocked out. The driver stopped, got out, and looked in at us. Then he laughed and drove off.”
“You’re saying it was a Wolf?”
He nodded. “Whose territory are we in?”
“It’s neutral ground.” I closed my eyes and tried linking Athena again.
“Are you sure?”
“I know every pack from here to Nathan’s territory. This is neutral.”
“I think you might be wrong.”
When I looked at him, he was staring past me.
I turned. A large black shadow crouched at the top of the stairs. Beady eyes fixed on us. It slowly rose to its full height, moving into the light. A Lycan.
It growled, drool dripping from bared teeth.
“Another fucking one!” Julian snapped. I glared at him.
‘I thought we killed them all.’ Titan muttered. ‘How did one escape?’
I focused on the Lycan. “We’re looking for someone. A girl with red hair. She’s like you. Taken from her home. From her family.”
It growled again.
“My mate is a female Lycan Alpha.” I tried, hoping for some reaction.
It moved away from the stairs, disappearing around the corner. Minutes later, a blonde female took its place.
“A young girl?” The blonde asked.
“She’s fifteen.”
“Why are you looking for her? You’re Wolves.”
“Like I said, my mate is a Lycan Alpha. The girl is like a little sister to her.”
“I had one of those once.” Her brown eyes remained fixed on me.
“I’m sorry.”
She snorted, folding her arms.
“Did you kill her?” Julian asked.
Her face hardened. She pulled her collar aside, revealing a bite mark on her collarbone, just like Sophia’s. “What do you think?!”
“How long ago were you bitten?” I asked.
“Why does it matter, Wolf?!”
Titan laughed. Normally I would have too. But maybe we could use her help.
“We were attacked back in my pack. The ones leading it had bitten humans. Changed them forever.”
She leaped the entire staircase, landing inches from me. “Was her name Victoria?”
“Yes.”
She smiled. “I can’t wait to kill her.”
“You’re too late. His mate killed her.” Julian muttered.
The blonde frowned, then smiled. It made her look dangerous. As she smiled, I noticed an old scar above her lip.
“Good.” she muttered.
“You got away?” I asked. I wanted to know how she’d survived without a pack.
She rolled her eyes as if it were obvious. Turning away, she headed back toward the stairs. “I haven’t seen the girl you described.”
“Please,” Julian muttered.
The blonde looked back at him. “You care for her?”
He didn’t answer, but I saw it in his eyes.
“The man who had her kidnapped isn’t a good man.”
“Who is?!” she snarled.
“They want her to produce pups.”
Her eyes narrowed to slits. “Didn’t you say she’s fifteen?”
“Yes.”
She sucked in her cheeks, staring at us. “I’ll help you, Wolf. But I want something in return.”
“What?”
“Money.”
“Seriously?” Julian interrupted. “She’s one of you.”
“I named my price. Take it or leave it!”
“Deal.” I muttered, holding out my blood-covered hand.
She shook it. “You can call me Brianna.”
