Chapter 73

Howard Lowell’s face darkened instantly at the mention of Sophia Roscente’s name.

He shot to his feet, jabbing a finger toward Anna Ross.

“You’re utterly hopeless!”

His chest heaved with ragged breaths.

Anna was baffled by his outburst.

She couldn’t understand what she had done wrong.

“I followed your instructions to monitor Adrian Sinclair. I reported everything exactly as it happened.”

Howard let out a cold, angry laugh.

“Sophia Roscente isn’t Adrian’s girlfriend. She’s his cousin!”

Anna froze.

She suddenly remembered the Lowell family had two daughters.

Adrian’s mother was the eldest, and Sophia’s mother was the younger one.

No wonder Adrian never resisted Sophia’s affectionate gestures.

They were family all along.

She had misunderstood him…

The realization brought an unexpected sense of relief.

But she quickly shook her head.

She was just happy for Chloe Valentine.

Adrian hadn’t betrayed her feelings.

“I’ll let it slide this time. You’re not familiar with their family.”

Howard massaged his temples, his expression softening slightly.

“But the mission continues. You must keep a close watch on Adrian. No more mistakes.”

His voice turned icy.

“Otherwise, I can’t guarantee your mother’s safety.”

Anna’s fingers clenched tightly.

She suppressed the urge to flee with her mother.

“I understand.”

Howard nodded in satisfaction.

He propped his feet on the desk, his face grim.

“There’s some trouble at the branch office. I need to handle it.”

“Your task is to bring Adrian back to New York. By any means necessary.”

Anna looked up in shock.

“How is that possible?”

She couldn’t possibly influence Adrian’s decisions.

Howard overestimated her.

More importantly, her mother was still in San Francisco.

She couldn’t leave her side.

Howard’s eyes turned cold.

“You refuse?”

Anna forced herself to stay calm.

“It’s not that I refuse. It’s impossible. Adrian won’t listen to me.”

Howard sneered.

He turned and pulled a file from the bookshelf.

He slammed it heavily onto the desk.

Anna’s heart jumped at the sound.

“Take a good look at these documents.”

He settled back into his chair, watching her with a cold gaze.

“Then tell me your decision.”
