Chapter 17
Adrian Sinclair’s gaze settled on her. “I only want her to serve.”
Anna Ross’s fingers tightened then relaxed.
“But I just want to be alone with you. I don’t want any outsiders interrupting.” Chloe Valentine’s voice was sweet, but her eyes held a cold glint. “Don’t you have things to do? Shouldn’t you leave?”
Anna Ross curved her lips into a smile. “Alright.” She turned to leave.
Her wrist was suddenly seized in a strong grip.
Adrian pulled her back in front of him, his voice low. “You don’t leave until I say so.” His fingers tightened, leaving red marks on her pale skin. “That’s an Executive Assistant’s duty.”
Anna couldn’t break free. She looked up and glared at him.
Adrian seemed to enjoy her angry expression, a slight smirk playing on his lips.
Anna suddenly looked at Chloe. “Since Mr. Sinclair insists, I suppose I have to stay. But will Ms. Valentine be upset?”
Adrian raised an eyebrow, a flicker of interest in his eyes.
Their gazes locked for a moment.
He turned to Chloe, his tone gentle. “Chloe is the most understanding, isn’t that right?”
Chloe’s nails dug into her palm. She forced a smile. “Of course I don’t mind.” Her eyes, however, shot venomous daggers at Anna.
Anna hadn’t expected her to concede.
Adrian was already walking to Chloe’s side. He spoke coldly. “Aren’t you coming?”
Anna followed.
The restaurant was opulent, like a palace.
A server led them to a private room and respectfully withdrew.
Adrian signaled to Anna. “Pull out the chairs.”
A triumphant smile touched Chloe’s lips.
Anna’s fingers trembled slightly as she pulled out two adjacent chairs.
Adrian sat down gracefully. Chloe immediately took the seat next to him.
Anna quietly stepped back to the side.
The food arrived quickly, its aroma filling the air.
Anna pressed a hand against her growling stomach. She hadn’t eaten a thing since morning.
She just hoped this torment would end soon.
Chloe placed food on Adrian’s plate, her tone dripping with concern. “Adrian, you’ve lost weight recently. You should eat more.”
