Chapter 294

Noah Watson’s eyes flickered with surprise.

“If something’s troubling you, Anna, you can tell me.”

“It might be presumptuous to say this, but after working together for so long, I consider you a true friend.”

Anna Ross didn’t know how to respond.

She offered a faint smile.

“Thank you.”

Her gaze drifted to the restaurant downstairs.

Remembering the morning’s events, she asked casually, “Have you ever been to that restaurant downstairs, Noah?”

Noah glanced down and shook his head with a smile.

“No. It’s part of Sinclair Group’s holdings.”

“I usually eat at the employee cafeteria.”

Anna froze for a moment.

No wonder she hadn’t needed to pay during breakfast—it was his family’s business.

“Do you want to eat there, Anna?” Noah’s tone held genuine surprise.

She quickly waved her hand.

“Just curious.”

Checking the time, she stood up.

“It’s getting late. I should return to my desk.”

Noah nodded and bid her farewell.

When she returned to her workstation, Chloe Valentine was gone.

But that tall, imposing figure remained standing nearby.

Recalling their earlier confrontation, Anna approached with an expressionless face.

She handed him the documents, her voice cool.

“What you asked for.”

Adrian Sinclair raised an eyebrow, amused by her sharp tone.

“Are you upset that I didn’t defend you earlier?” He stepped closer, his shadow enveloping her.

Anna retreated half a step, her face tense.

“Why would I be upset? She’s your fiancée. It’s natural for you to believe her.”

She shoved the documents into his arms and deftly returned to her seat.

“If there’s nothing else, Mr. Sinclair, I need to work.”

Adrian stood silently, not leaving.

He hadn’t misheard—was she actually jealous?

“I knew it wasn’t your fault earlier.” His voice came from beside her, calm yet startling.

She had just regained her composure, but his words shook her again.

Adrian watched her slender back, his gaze deepening.

Seeing her fragile shoulders, a sudden ache pierced his heart.

Before Anna could speak, Adrian moved in front of her.

His expression softened.

“Don’t dwell on it…”

“What I mean is, don’t let someone like that upset you.”

His eyes flickered as he held back further concern.

Anna stared at him in stunned silence.

She was surprised by his trust, and even more by his concern.

He should… hate her.

“Mr. Sinclair, here’s the quarterly report you requested.”

Noah’s voice interrupted abruptly.

Anna snapped back to reality and lowered her head quickly.

“Understood. I’ll get back to work.”

Adrian glanced at Noah and led him into the office.

Before turning away, he gave her a deep, lingering look.

Howard Lowell would be arriving at the company soon.

When that time came, he would uncover—exactly what she was hiding.
