Chapter 215
Evelyn stood up to toss the empty coffee cup into the bin. As she approached Sophia, she furrowed her brows, trying to place the name. It rang a bell, but she couldn’t quite grasp why.
Noticing Evelyn’s struggle, Sophia reached out and gave her arm a playful tap. "It’s the CEO of Celestia Group."
"Oh—right! That’s where I’ve heard it before! The CEO of Celest—" Evelyn’s words caught in her throat. Her eyes widened as she stared at Sophia, disbelief written all over her face.
Sophia wasn’t surprised by her reaction. She had anticipated this. Honestly, she was still baffled herself by Alexander Kensington’s willingness to entertain her so-called "proposal."
Even now, she couldn’t fathom why a man like him would go out of his way to indulge her. But the fact remained—she was Mrs. Kensington.
"Celestia Group?! The CEO of Celestia Group?!" Evelyn finally managed to choke out, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her mind reeled. This was beyond shocking. She had known Evelyn was seeing someone new, but she never imagined it would be someone of that caliber.
"Evelyn…" Sophia’s grip on her arm tightened. "Tell me you’re not his mistress."
Evelyn scoffed and flicked Sophia’s forehead. "Seriously? That’s the first place your mind goes?"
"Ow! Okay, okay, I take it back!" Sophia rubbed her forehead, wincing. "But come on—CEO of Celestia Group?! How is that even possible?"
She still couldn’t wrap her head around it. "Evelyn, are you for real? Is he actually your boyfriend? You’re together?"
It wasn’t that Sophia was being nosy or judgmental. She just couldn’t fathom how these two worlds had collided. Alexander Kensington was practically a myth—someone she never expected to cross paths with, let alone be dating her best friend.
Evelyn hadn’t planned on telling her, but Sophia had already seen the texts. Even if she kept it quiet now, the name "Alexander Kensington" would eventually click. Better to come clean now than deal with the fallout later. Besides, she trusted Sophia.
"Yeah," Evelyn admitted with a sigh. "But keep it to yourself, okay? We’re not making it public."
Sophia blinked. "Wait, why? If you’re in a real relationship, why hide it? Is he ashamed of you? Is he even serious about this?"
The rapid-fire questions made Evelyn regret not saving Alexander’s number under a fake name. She hadn’t expected Sophia to see it.
