Chapter 387

Eleanor's laughter filled the room, her eyes sparkling with delight. "At my age, what could possibly scare me? Seeing you two happy is all I need."

Adrian leaned forward with a warm smile. "Eleanor, don't settle for just that. Vivian and I want to start our family soon. You'll be a great-grandmother. You've already given Vivian her musical gifts - we hope you'll share that passion with our child."

"You're serious about having a baby? This isn't just to humor an old woman, is it?" Eleanor's voice trembled with excitement.

Margaret spoke gently, "They're truly considering it. I took them for fertility tests today. Young couples often overlook these things, so I'm making sure everything's perfect."

Eleanor squeezed Margaret's hand, regret flashing across her face. "I'm so grateful for everything you've done. With my failing health and Richard's foolish behavior, we haven't been much help."

"You should be enjoying your golden years, not worrying about these matters," Margaret replied smoothly, her years with the Blackwood family making her an expert at delicate conversations.

Turning to Vivian, Margaret asked, "How has your grandmother been handling her prolonged hospital stay?"

Vivian studied Eleanor's frail form on the bed and sighed. "Her condition is stable, but we can only manage symptoms. Surgery is too risky, and we haven't found any specialist who can offer better treatment. Even Beatrice's connections couldn't help."

As she spoke, Vivian remembered Maxwell's associate was a renowned specialist in this field. For Eleanor's sake, she considered contacting Maxwell, wondering if reconciliation might lead to a cure.

She resolved that mending fences with Maxwell would be worthwhile if it improved Eleanor's health.

Since Eleanor needed rest, their visit was brief. After warm goodbyes, they left - the news about Vivian and Adrian's family plans visibly lifting Eleanor's spirits.

In the parking lot, Margaret paused before entering the car, turning to Vivian with sudden recollection. "Oh! I nearly forgot - I'm attending Mrs. Harrington's gathering tonight. You remember her? She brought those supplements last time."

Vivian nodded, curious about the sudden mention. "Yes, of course."

Margaret's tone turned thoughtful. "Her family has connections with top specialists. I'll inquire about Eleanor's condition. Send me her medical records later."

Gratitude softened Vivian's expression. "Thank you, Margaret."

Margaret slipped into the car with her usual practicality. "Don't thank me with words. If you really want to show gratitude, focus on giving me a healthy grandson."

Adrian chuckled at the comment. "And what if it's a healthy granddaughter?"
