Chapter 465
"You wouldn't know her," Alexander said.
Sebastian nearly swore out loud. What the hell? That's not an answer!
But if she was someone Sebastian didn’t recognize, she probably wasn’t from their elite circle. He might not know every eligible bachelor, but he certainly knew every eligible woman among the upper echelons.
Sebastian wasn’t boasting—he could list them all: who was stunning, who had a temper, who possessed extraordinary talent.
Alexander claimed Sebastian didn’t know her. Did that mean she wasn’t part of their world?
What was her background, then? A commoner? Impossible. The Kensingtons were one of the most powerful families in the city. They would never allow their heir to marry beneath his station.
"Even if I don’t know her, she must have a name, right?" Sebastian scoffed. "And tell me, will your family really accept some nobody? Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for a Cinderella story. Wake up, Alex. Fairy tales are for little girls. You can’t seriously believe in that nonsense."
Alexander shot him a cold glare, silencing him momentarily. But Sebastian couldn’t resist pressing further. "Forget my sister for a second. Think about your family—your legacy. Do you really think they’ll let some ordinary girl become a Kensington?"
"She’s not ordinary."
To Alexander, Evelyn was anything but ordinary. She was extraordinary. Ordinary? The word didn’t even belong in the same sentence as her.
Before Sebastian could argue, Alexander cut in, "Besides, I don’t need a political marriage to secure the business. And as for my family—I’m the one marrying her. Their approval isn’t required."
Sebastian wanted to scream. Someone record this! The great Alexander Kensington, reduced to a lovesick fool!
But he couldn’t. Not with his sister’s reputation and Alexander’s influence at stake. He never imagined the ruthless CEO could be this naive.
"That’s not the point," Sebastian insisted. "Our world doesn’t work like that. There are expectations—pressures. Sooner or later, reality will catch up to you. Even if you love her, when the backlash comes—"
"What does any of that have to do with you?" Alexander’s icy tone shut him down.
Sebastian clamped his mouth shut, feeling like an intrusive gossip. He turned to stare out the window, frustration simmering.
His mind raced, trying to figure out who this mystery woman could be. He glanced back at Alexander, but the man’s expression was unreadable—focused, almost eager.
Is he… looking forward to something?
Then it hit him. Alexander had been rushing home every night, refusing dinners and drinks. He’d even said he hadn’t prepared for Sebastian to join him.
"Wait—are you already living with her?"
Alexander didn’t confirm, but the slight shift in his expression was all the answer Sebastian needed.
"Holy hell. I never pegged you for the type, Alex!"
Alexander’s sharp glare could have cut glass. Sebastian recoiled, raising his hands. "Slip of the tongue! I just never thought the legendary bachelor would shack up with someone. Now I have to meet her. Harrison, step on it! I need to see this woman for myself."
