Chapter 375

Nathaniel Blackwood stared at Evelyn Carter intently, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"You're the manager of this project."

Evelyn blinked in shock.

Since when was I made a project manager? What exactly am I in charge of? I don’t even know what this project is about!

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter," Nathaniel said warmly.

"Your name sounds familiar."

His eyes brightened with realization.

"Ah, now I remember. You're the winner of the recent perfumery competition in Valmont—Evelyn Carter. That was you, wasn’t it?"

Evelyn hadn’t expected word to spread so fast, reaching even those in Marseille. His company specialized in Olivella Soap, not perfumery. Yet here he was, recognizing her. She supposed she had gained some recognition.

"Yes, that’s me," she admitted with a nod.

Nathaniel’s expression lit up.

"It really is you! What an honor to meet you! To be honest, Mr. Kensington, I was skeptical when you mentioned combining perfume with Olivella Soap. But if Ms. Carter is leading the project, I have nothing to worry about. I look forward to collaborating with you!"

Evelyn was speechless.

"I—I’ve never done anything like this before. I can only promise to do my best."

Perfume and Olivella Soap? She was hearing about this for the first time. She had no idea where to even begin.

How was she supposed to pull this off? She shot Alexander Kensington a glare.

"You’re being too modest, Ms. Carter," Nathaniel continued. "Your victory in Valmont brought us immense pride. You might not realize it, but we’ve faced discrimination in this industry for years. Celestia Group is globally renowned for its cosmetics and fragrances, yet they’ve always looked down on us."

"Your win proved them wrong. You’ve done something remarkable for all of us."

Nathaniel gave her an earnest thumbs-up. His praise wasn’t flattery—it was genuine. Evelyn felt a swell of pride, knowing she had made an impact. But she also knew this was just the beginning.

There was still so much ahead.

After some further discussion, they left with a few samples of Olivella Soap Nathaniel had prepared for them.

Once outside, Alexander reached for her hand, but Evelyn pulled away.

"Are you upset with me?" he asked, sensing her mood.

"Because I didn’t tell you beforehand?"

"So you do know," she muttered.

Evelyn shot him a sideways glance. "You said we were going out for fun. Instead, I walked into a business meeting completely unprepared. You could’ve at least warned me before making me the project manager!"

She had held back earlier, not wanting to argue in front of Nathaniel. Now, she let her frustration show.

Alexander chuckled at her puffed cheeks.

"It was a business meeting, but I didn’t lie about having fun. Look—you even got gifts!"

He waved the bag of Olivella Soap samples teasingly.

"I don’t want them!"

Evelyn huffed, turning away and storming off.
