Chapter 370

"Where exactly are we going?" Evelyn asked, curiosity lacing her voice as the wind tousled her hair.

The others had departed, leaving just the two of them alone.

"I promised you a trip as a reward, but the competition got in the way." Dominic flashed her a roguish grin. "Consider this my way of making it up to you."

She hadn’t noticed when he’d procured the sleek convertible, but now they were speeding down the open highway, the scenery blurring past like something out of a romance film.

"Wait—I was supposed to meet Sophia and Victoria today!" She groaned, suddenly remembering the plans she’d canceled last-minute.

Dominic shot her a sideways glance, his expression turning petulant. "Am I not better company?"

Even while driving, he couldn’t resist pouting. The man had a talent for jealousy, no matter the situation.

"Fine, you win," she conceded, reaching over to turn his face back toward the road. "Now focus on driving."

Safety first, especially when he was behind the wheel. His lips curled into a smug smile at her praise, and he squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Come with me this time. You can see them next week."

She sighed. "I can’t just take off whenever I want. Unlike some people, I don’t own the company."

Dominic arched a brow. "Did you forget who you’re dating?"

Evelyn fell silent. Over the past few days, he’d been calling Gregory directly, bypassing her entirely. Every instruction he gave was relayed straight to her.

At this point, only an idiot wouldn’t have figured out their relationship.

"Did you tell Gregory about us?" she asked, nerves tightening her voice.

"No," he said smoothly, though his fingers laced through hers. "But he’s not blind. He knows you’re with me, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you need anything, just let him know."

She pressed her lips together, saying nothing.

"I know you want to prove yourself," he continued, his tone softening. "But leaning on me doesn’t make you weak. Take this competition—even if the company recommended you because of me, you still had to earn that win. I didn’t rig it for you."

Bringing her hand to his lips, he pressed a kiss to her knuckles.

Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh at his serious expression. "I wasn’t accusing you."

"Good," he murmured, slowing the car as he turned to face her fully. "Because we can’t hide forever. So… when do you want to make us official?"

Her breath caught.

The way he looked at her—half teasing, half earnest—sent her pulse racing.

With his status, he could’ve announced their relationship without consulting her. But he’d kept his word, respecting her wishes every step of the way.

A slow smile curved her lips. She tangled her fingers with his and whispered, "Soon."

Soon.

When she was stronger, when she could stand beside him without doubt—then she’d claim him before the world.

And no one would question that he was hers.
