Chapter 347

Dmitri glanced at Evelyn and deliberately raised his voice.

"How would I know what one day costs versus two? She's been kidnapped, and you didn't take her away immediately! What kind of nonsense is this? Tell me, what are we supposed to do now?"

The voice on the other end grew heated. "Where's your boss?"

"Boss?"

After a brief pause, Dmitri scoffed. "My boss is still deciding if she's worth rescuing, so hurry up and get here!"

With that, Evelyn decisively ended the call.

"Miss, did I handle that well?"

Dmitri was careful to sound submissive, not daring to provoke the woman before him.

Evelyn gave him a cold look before standing. "The three of you stay put. I'll deal with you later."

Alexander booked the earliest flight out.

He had expected to see her immediately upon arrival, but instead, he found himself unable to reach anyone.

Calls went unanswered. When he arrived at her hotel, she was nowhere to be found.

His unease grew into full-blown panic.

Alexander tapped into his contacts in Laurentia and called Phoenix Labs.

Gregory was stunned when the call came through. He hadn't expected the CEO himself to reach out.

"No, I haven't heard from them today. I'll contact them right away and update you as soon as I have news."

He hesitated, then corrected himself. "Actually, I'll update you if there's any news."

After hanging up, Gregory immediately tried calling Evelyn—but her line was dead.

Thinking quickly, he asked Victoria to track down Adrienne's number, but no one picked up.

That was when he realized the severity of the situation.

A cold sweat broke out across his forehead.

He had always assumed Evelyn and Harrison were involved—why else would the CEO personally call him?

"Mr. Kensington," he stammered when he called back, "I've tried everything, but there's no trace of her."

"Have you contacted the competition organizers?" Alexander's voice was dangerously low.

The disappointment in his tone was palpable, sending a chill down Gregory's spine.

"I did. They said she left after two rounds and vanished. There's no record of her returning to the hotel. Maybe she went out and... ran into trouble."

"Trouble?" Alexander echoed. "What kind of trouble?"

"I don't know," Gregory admitted. "I'll send someone to investigate in Laurentia immediately. I'll find answers."

"Don't bother." Alexander cut him off. "If anyone contacts you with updates, notify me at once."

"Y-yes, sir."

Gregory hung up, wiping sweat from his brow.

Outwardly, Alexander remained composed. But inside, his mind was in turmoil.

He had faced countless challenges—corporate takeovers, assassination attempts, ruthless negotiations.

None of them had shaken him like this.

He was terrified. Terrified that something had happened to Evelyn. That she might already be—

He refused to finish the thought.

He needed to act fast. Mobilize the police. Leverage every connection he had.

She had to be safe.

Evelyn, meanwhile, was growing restless.

She paced the room twice, grabbed a quick snack to replenish her energy, and checked on Adrienne.

The girl was still unconscious—proof of the drug's potency.

Had Evelyn been dosed like her, she'd be just as helpless.

After searching the room, she found no trace of her phone—or Adrienne's.

The only device available was the one confiscated from Viktor.

The interface was clunky, the functions limited.

She scowled.

This was going to be a problem.
