Chapter 346

Evelyn Carter froze in fear, her breath hitching. She couldn't believe the venomous words that had just slipped from Viktor Petrov's lips—especially since he delivered them with a chilling smile.

"Unfortunately," he continued, twirling the knife between his fingers, "I don't have much experience with this. I might not get the depth right. Would you mind if I mess it up?"

"P-please don't—"

Dmitri Sokolov's eye twitched, but he forced out a sneer. "You think we're scared of you?"

"Oh, you're not?" Evelyn tilted her head, feigning admiration. "Good. Real men shouldn't be afraid. Not like little girls." She paused, tapping her chin. "Tell me, have you ever heard of how they used to interrogate prisoners?"

Dmitri stayed silent.

They didn’t want to know. But Evelyn didn’t care.

"A thick rope," she murmured, "tied just right. Tight enough to hurt, but not enough to kill. The person would still be breathing, still be conscious." She sighed dramatically. "But we live in modern times, don’t we? Equality and all that. If women could endure it, strong men like you definitely could."

The more she spoke, the paler Dmitri became. He looked seconds away from passing out.

Even if he survived this, the nightmares would haunt him forever.

Across from him, Viktor Petrov strained against his restraints, his face flushed with fury. But he couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak.

"So," Evelyn said sweetly, "have you decided? Or should I suggest something else—?"

A sharp ring cut her off.

Viktor’s phone.

Evelyn picked it up, examining the screen. The caller had saved her the trouble.

"Who wants to answer?" She dangled the phone between them.

Ivan Volkov remained silent.

Dmitri, however, scrambled forward. "M-me! I'll do it! I'll say whatever you want!"

Evelyn smirked. "Good. Don’t forget your lines."

The call connected instantly. A distorted voice crackled through.

"Well? Did you inject her yet?"

Evelyn pressed the phone to Dmitri’s ear, her gaze sharp.

Dmitri swallowed hard. "Y-you need to come! Now! Something went wrong!"

"What happened?" The voice turned urgent.

"The dose—it was too much! She—she might be dead!"

Dmitri’s voice shook, his split lip throbbing.

"WHAT?!" The caller exploded. "I told you—three days' worth! Not all at once! Are you idiots trying to ruin everything?!"
