Chapter 345
"What do you want me to say?"
Ivan was still wearing his sunglasses. They sat slightly crooked on his face, stubbornly clinging to him despite the tension in the room.
Evelyn found them irritating. Without hesitation, she reached out and yanked them off.
The moment they were gone, she understood why he never took them off.
He only had one eye.
One sharp, piercing eye fixed on her, while the other was clouded over, completely blind. Without the shield of his glasses, his good eye burned with barely contained fury.
But Evelyn had him tied up. His struggles were futile.
"Tell your employer I overdosed from the injection. Tell him to come immediately."
She knew the mastermind didn’t want her dead—just under control. If he thought she was gone, he’d rush to confirm it himself.
"And if I do, you’ll let us go?"
Ivan’s single eye glinted with cold defiance.
Evelyn laughed. "Oh, please. You kidnapped me and my assistant, and you think I’ll just set you free? Dream on."
"Then why should I cooperate?" Ivan sneered.
On the other side, Dmitri was sweating bullets. "I—I’ll call him!"
"Brother!" Ivan snapped, disbelief twisting his face.
Evelyn smirked. "At least one of you has some sense."
She grabbed Viktor’s phone from the table and dialed the employer’s number, holding it up to Dmitri’s ear.
"If you make that call, we’re finished!" Ivan snarled. "No more jobs. No more pay. Nothing!"
Evelyn tilted her head, amused. "You think you’ll have a future after this? Worry about whether you’ll even see tomorrow’s sunrise first."
"We don’t betray our employer!" Ivan spat.
Dmitri hesitated, his hands shaking.
Evelyn sighed. "Fine. If you’d rather die than talk, that’s your choice. But have you ever heard the phrase survival of the fittest?"
Ivan scoffed. "You think threats scare us? We lost this fight, but we won’t bow to you."
"Brave words," Evelyn mused, clapping slowly. "Since you’re so proud, maybe I should make your deaths... memorable."
She paced in front of them, tapping her chin. "Let me think. How about I carve you up first? Piece by piece?"
Dmitri paled. "W-What?"
Evelyn smiled sweetly. "Oh, don’t worry. It’s simple. Just a small knife, some rope to keep you still, and a steady hand. I’ll count each cut—fair and precise. No more, no less. Want to try?"
Her grin widened as Ivan’s eye darkened with dread.
