Chapter 321

Penelope's panic was entirely different from what she had displayed before.

Fear and anxiety were etched across her delicate features.

Evelyn turned curiously and saw several men approaching.

The one leading them wore rimless glasses and a bespoke suit.

The men behind him were clearly assistants and bodyguards.

His expression was calm, exuding an air of refined elegance.

From his appearance, he seemed to be of Asian descent.

"Donovan, you're here! Please, let me explain!"

Despite her terror, Penelope rushed toward Donovan Blackwood, tears welling in her eyes as she tried to embrace him.

A bodyguard swiftly blocked her path.

Donovan regarded her coldly. "Where's Oliver?"

"He's still in the emergency room. I don't know how this happened. We were having such a wonderful time today, and he was happy—but then suddenly... I don't know... I really don't know... sob..." Penelope stammered between sobs.

Evelyn arched a brow, speechless.

Are they a couple? But what kind of couple acts like this? It was bizarre.

She glanced at Serena, seeking answers.

Serena remained impassive, as if this were completely normal.

"Penelope, I warned you not to meet Oliver alone. Clearly, you chose to ignore me," Donovan said icily. "If anything happens to him, I will destroy you."

His tone was steady, but every word dripped with menace.

Evelyn felt a chill grip her heart. She looked at Penelope, who had collapsed to her knees, trembling uncontrollably.

"No! You can't do this to me!"

Penelope burst into fresh tears.

"I'm his mother! You have no right!"

Donovan gazed down at her with disdain. "Do you deserve any better?"

Evelyn was stunned.

Good grief. What a ruthless man.

Penelope continued weeping on the floor.

Then, abruptly, she seemed to remember something. She whirled around, pointing an accusing finger at Evelyn, her purple manicured nail glinting under the harsh hospital lights.

"No—it wasn't me! It was her!"

"Excuse me?" Evelyn blinked.

"She did something strange to Oliver earlier! If he's hurt, it's her fault! She's the one to blame!"

Any sympathy Evelyn had felt for Penelope evaporated instantly.

This woman absolutely deserves this.

Of course someone treated so pitifully had done something to earn such hatred.

Evelyn couldn’t believe Penelope was trying to pin this on her. The child's condition was still unknown—the doctors hadn’t even given an update yet.

If the worst happened, it would be due to a severe allergic reaction, not her first aid. How could Penelope possibly blame her?

Evil suited her far better than Penelope.

Donovan's sharp gaze locked onto Evelyn. She met his eyes unflinchingly, her conscience clear.

She had nothing to fear.
