Chapter 194

Evelyn confessed that she had altered the forms before leaving DR Holdings, intending to create chaos for them.

But she wasn’t entirely sure how much damage it would actually cause.

"You sound so confident about this. Then I suppose there’s nothing for me to worry about," Alexander murmured, his gaze softening with adoration as his fingers gently combed through her hair.

Evelyn turned to face him, pulling his arm around her shoulders before settling onto his lap. "That’s not the point," she said in a playful, teasing tone. "You have to be ready to back me up at any moment. What if they come after me? You’d better have a team of lawyers ready to defend me in court!"

She really knows how to get to me. Every little thing she does, every glance she gives—it all hits me right in the heart. Looking at her like this makes me want to give her everything.

"Does this mean I have to do whatever you ask?" he teased.

"Aren’t you willing to?" Evelyn pouted, feigning hurt, though the mischievous glint in her eyes gave her away.

"At your service, my lady," Alexander smirked before leaning down to capture her lips.

The worst part about kissing in this position was the strain on his neck—his, specifically. Eventually, the discomfort became too much, and he straightened with a groan, rubbing the sore spot.

Evelyn bit back a laugh.

"Are you laughing at me?" he grumbled.

"I wouldn’t dare!"

Before she could say more, a soft chime from her laptop interrupted them—a notification. She quickly pulled away and checked the screen.

Most were replies to her earlier post, but a few were private messages. Since her post was related to the perfume industry, some users had already pieced together that the forms she shared were significant.

A few might have been perfumers or researchers from rival companies, but so far, no one had recognized them as DR Holdings’ confidential documents.

However, an employee from DR Holdings would know immediately.

One message stood out—a demand for her identity and motives, followed by an order to take the post down immediately.

Meanwhile, the comment section buzzed with activity. It was evening, and people were home with nothing better to do. Her post had sparked excitement, drawing a lively crowd of speculators.

Some had already begun experimenting with the formulas she’d leaked.

At this point, deleting the post was pointless. The damage was done. Screenshots had likely been taken.

Alexander reached over, closing the tab and shutting down the laptop before Evelyn could react.

"You’ve done what you needed to. No point dwelling on it now. The bait’s been thrown—the fish will bite soon enough."

Evelyn agreed. She had been about to log off, but Alexander was quicker.

She wasn’t worried.

But someone else would be.

The moment her laptop powered down, her phone rang.

Dominic Reeves was calling.
