Chapter 192

Dominic Reeves despised Evelyn Carter but had no control over her. So, he redirected his focus to Sophia Grant, knowing it would indirectly impact Evelyn.

"What am I going to do?" Sophia's mood darkened as she clutched the legal notice. "I can't work here anymore?"

Victoria Sterling nodded, her expression grim. Recruiting new talent for Phoenix Labs was easy, but navigating legal battles alone was another matter entirely.

"Don't panic yet. I'll handle this," Evelyn reassured Sophia.

Every problem had a solution. The shock of the situation had only clouded their judgment.

Evelyn thought to herself, Dominic moves fast. Today was Sophia's first day, and he'd already sent the cease-and-desist. He must have been watching us. So much for his promise to leave me alone.

"Look at what he's done now. How can we go our separate ways if he keeps provoking me? I was willing to let things slide, but he's practically begging for consequences. Fine—I won't hold back."

Then, turning to Sophia, she said, "Take some time off for now. You just moved, right? Settle in and wait for my update."

"Evelyn..." Sophia hesitated, worried her situation would drag Phoenix Labs into trouble. She could handle it alone, but she didn’t want the company to suffer because of her.

Evelyn squeezed her shoulder. "Relax. This is just his pathetic attempt to intimidate you—and flex what little power he thinks he has over me. This mess is because of me, not you. Go home and wait for good news."

Victoria added, "She's right. This sounds serious, but a non-compete clause isn’t the end of the world. We’ll pause your onboarding, and once we resolve this, I’ll personally fast-track your paperwork again."

Their words left Sophia speechless. She bowed her head gratefully. "Thank you, Victoria. Thank you, Evelyn. I’m so lucky to have met you both. I won’t let you down."

Evelyn chuckled, pulling her upright. "What are you talking about? Working hard is your job, and protecting our team is ours. Now go—it’s late. Your mom will worry."

Sophia nodded and left.

Once she was gone, Evelyn stared at the document in her hand, a frosty smile curling her lips.

"Evelyn, do you have a plan?" Victoria asked, noting her calm demeanor.

Evelyn flicked the paper with her fingers. "Legally, there are only two ways to resolve this."
