Chapter 133
The day had been nothing short of chaotic for Vanessa, a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected turns. One moment, she felt herself teetering on the edge of an abyss, and the next, Lucien Dubois appeared like a storm, his hand reaching out to pull her back from the brink.
On the ride back to The Chateau Royale, her mind was a tangled mess. She didn’t even protest when Lucien’s fingers curled around hers, his grip firm and unyielding. The silence between them was thick, charged with something restless, something electric.
When they reached the lobby, Lucien guided her into the elevator. The moment the doors slid shut, he pinned her against the wall, his body caging her in.
"Mr. Dubois!" Vanessa gasped, her pulse skyrocketing.
His lips curved into a smirk. "Vanessa, I just did you a massive favor today. Don’t you think you owe me a little gratitude?" His hand slid to the back of her head, fingers tangling in her hair.
"I—" She barely had time to form a protest before his mouth crashed into hers. The kiss was relentless, stealing her breath, her thoughts, any chance of resistance. Her palms pressed weakly against his chest, but it was futile.
Ding.
The elevator chimed, the doors opening on her floor. Lucien pulled back instantly, putting just enough space between them to let her glimpse the hallway beyond.
Vanessa didn’t hesitate. She bolted out, her heart hammering.
But his voice stopped her cold.
"Vanessa." His tone was low, dangerous. "I’m not a patient man. I’ve given you chances—more than you deserve. But even my generosity has limits. Tonight is your last opportunity. Do you understand?"
She didn’t dare turn around. Not until the elevator doors closed again, swallowing him whole.
But even then, his absence didn’t bring relief. The ghost of his lips still burned against hers, a reminder of what had just happened—what could happen if she gave in.
And yet, his words echoed louder.
Lucien Dubois wasn’t making empty threats. He had the power to ruin her—or elevate her to heights she’d only dreamed of. If she refused him now, there would be no second chances.
Her fingers trembled as they brushed over her stomach.
What was she supposed to do?
Meanwhile, Evelyn and Victoria were returning to their suite when Victoria’s phone buzzed.
"What? Now? Where are they?" She shot Evelyn a glance. "Can’t Evelyn and I handle this together?"
